Yes, you can add white margins or borders to your page layouts. However, for technical production and aesthetic reasons, we do not recommend using margins smaller than 25 mm.
There are two main reasons for this recommendation:
Production Tolerances: Since album production and trimming have a handcrafted component, minimal deviations may occur. With a generous margin, these deviations are invisible, but with thin margins, even a slight variation will result in visible asymmetry between the sides of the page.
Proportional Reduction for Replicas (Parent Albums): If you order replicas of a main album, the file will be proportionally reduced. This means that a margin that is already small in the main album will become even smaller in the replica, making it technically impossible to guarantee alignment and visual quality.
Recommendation: To ensure a balanced result, always use margins of 1" (approx. 25 mm) or more.
