Although the main function of lamination is to protect the printed image, no film is 100% damage-proof if subjected to strong friction, sharp objects, or drops. However, its behavior regarding scratches varies greatly depending on the chosen finish:
Matte Lamination: The anti-reflective surface of the Matte finish makes it less susceptible to scratches. Thanks to its texture, this type of lamination can much better disguise small signs of wear.
Glossy Lamination: Due to its highly smooth and reflective surface, the Glossy finish has a higher tendency to highlight small superficial scratches and signs of use.
Conservation tip: To ensure maximum durability of the cover, we advise that the album is always handled with care, avoiding dragging it over rough surfaces, and that it is stored in its respective box or protective bag when not being viewed.
